Review the plans. It pays to shop around every year. As your health needs change you may find that a different plan is a better fit for you.

See if you qualify for extra help. There are programs that can help people who are struggling pay for their prescriptions and health insurance premiums, deductibles, and coinsurance.

FAQ’s
Is Medicare intended to pay 100% of Medical bills?

What is Medicare Part C?
Medicare Advantage, formerly known as Medicare + Choice, is available in many areas. People with Medicare Parts A and B can choose to receive all of their health care services through one of these provider organizations under Part C.
What is the Medicare Savings Program?
The Medicare Savings Program can help pay Medicare premiums and, in some cases, may also pay Part A and Part B deductibles, coinsurance and copayments. This program also helps people with Medicare who have limited income and resources. It is administered by the Louisiana Department of Health.

What is a Medicare Supplement Policy (Medigap)?
A Medigap policy is private insurance that helps pay for health care costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover, such as copayments, coinsurance and deductibles.
